This year, as we go eat, watch parades and football, and enjoy the company of family and friends, let’s be sure to thank God for the turkey. HA! We watched a video at church on Sunday that basically said just that. It was hilarious. If you get the chance, look it up online. I’m sure you can find it. It was part of a “Deep Thoughts from a Shallow Christian” video set.
But on a serious note, I do miss my family. This will be my second Thanksgiving away from them, and my 3rd or 4th holiday away from home. I grew up always going over to my great-grandparents’ house with everyone else in our extended family. As we got older, and some got married, they started splitting the holidays between the two families, but we always had family around. Yvette and I have said we are going to try going back to Illinois at least every Christmas to see our families. However, I would like to see them more. So, here’s my proposal. Either come see me or pay for our travel. Ha!
With that being said, I would like to let you know that I will be moving in a couple weeks to Salem, NH. That’s right. I will finally live in the same town as the church! I will be renting a house from a family in the church, which should be a great deal. They are excellent people, and they have 4 kids, 2 of which are in middle school this year. I’ll live right next door to them, placing me about 4 1/2 miles from the current location of RCC and 1 1/2 miles from our (potential) new location.
This year, I’m thankful for God providing! He’s provided family, shelter, friends, and homes away from home. I’m getting ready to go eat some turkey with the family of a couple friends, but I’d love to hear what you are thankful for this year. Also, what are your Thanksgiving plans? Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
