A couple weeks ago, I was asked to present a thought/meditation before we took communion at church. The theme of the morning was allowing God to speak through Scripture. As I stated that morning, one of the things that I would love to happen in this lifetime is for God to audibly speak to me. However, since that will probably not happen until Heaven, I need to make sure I read as much as I can from the Bible. That is the way He chooses to communicate much of the time.

I don’t know why it is, but it has always been a struggle for me to read every day. I’ve had times where I do better than others, but still the struggle is there. I think it partly has to do with the fact that I have read it before, and I am not one to read books more than once. This one is different, though. And God has a way to speak through it every time I read, even when it is a story/passage I have read 10 times before.

Recently, I signed up for a free service through mfaith, which sends me a daily Scripture right to my cell phone via text message. It has been a great way to constantly stay in the Word. Sure, it is not like reading chapters from the Bible, but it is more than nothing at all. And often times, it seems like the verses that I read are God speaking directly to my current situation. On a couple occasions, He has told me to stop being lazy on some days when I felt like doing very little.

So…to all my blog readers out there (friends, family, youth workers)… What has God been saying to you lately through His word? Has He been hitting you with something you need to hear? Has He comforted you when you needed it? Has He encouraged you when you felt down? Please share what you have been reading and how it has spoken to you. I LOVE hearing those types stories!
