The following is a letter I sent out to my financial supporters on January 26, 2009, informing them that their commitment time is up.
Dear Friends and Family,
I first want to thank you so much for your continued support of the ministry in New England. Your prayers, finances, and kind words mean so much. When I am feeling overwhelmed and Satan is getting a foothold in my life and ministry, it is your support that often brings me through. It is an awesome feeling to know that I am not alone in doing God’s work.
In 2007, when I sent out a support letter, I asked for 12 months of help. I wanted to let you know that it has been 12 months, and Rockingham Christian Church (along with my ministry at RCC) is now self-supporting, apart from Restoration House Ministries (RHM). This is a great time for our church family. I pray that you are excited as well. You helped us get to this point.
However, I do want to let you know you that even though RCC no longer needs support from RHM, you can feel free to continue giving to my ministry or to New England ministry in general. If you do, in fact, wish to continue your support, please place a note in the envelope instructing the office where you want the money to go. If you wish to support another church plant, I would like to encourage you to support the Rhode Island church that will be starting in later in 2009. Currently, there are only a handful of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in the entire state of Rhode Island.
I also wanted to inform you that Yvette and I got married on January 3. We are very excited about the ministry God will do through both of us! Yvette is currently considering a part-time position with Sojourn Collegiate Ministries in Boston, where she did an internship this past summer. If she does, in fact, pursue this, it will be fully supported financially by people like you. She would not start until at least fall 2009. Please keep this in mind as you plan for future partnerships with the ministry here in New England.
Once again, I want to thank you for your tremendous support in various ways. I will continue to keep my website (www.stevecullum.com) running, and will also continue my newsletters (via e-mail). Even if you do not continue to financially support the ministry here, please keep us in your daily prayers! There are some amazing things going on right now, and it is partially because of your commitments. May God bless you as you have blessed me!
