It’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone on the ministry here at RCC (both Student Ministry and my other “hats” I wear), so here you go.

We’re in the process of figuring out growth strategies right now at RCC.  Not only people growth, but building growth, as we seek to build our first building soon.  We’re working with an awesome consulting company, called “Church Solutions Group.”  It’s an exciting time, but it is also stressful.  There is so much work to be done, both creative and preparatory, in order to numerically grow a church.  However, we have a huge, God-sized vision to reach as many people as we can for Christ.  And with that vision, comes His help!  I ask that you pray for RCC as we seek to reach many many more people for God in the upcoming years.

As far as the Student Ministry goes, I am very excited for this fall.  I just had an awesome meeting with a group of our adult volunteer Youth Leaders on Wednesday night, and I am so glad to have them beside me in this.  Their ideas are wonderful, and their enthusiasm is amazing.  I can’t wait to see them get back into things as we start our weekly youth meetings up in September!  I’m also really excited about the service projects we will begin this fall.  It is also a time of transition, as we are attempting something new. We will have the high school and middle school meeting at the same time, but they will spend the majority of their time separated into their respected groups.  The challenge with this is that I, obviously, cannot be in 2 places at once.  This will require the volunteers to “step up” and lead more.  And they are ready for it!  Along with that, we will hopefully, down the line, begin developing some high school small groups, creating a student leadership team, adding more adult leaders, and growing the group (both spiritually and numerically).

Other than that, I’ve started taking more of a role in the small groups and discipleship side of things at RCC.  It is a transition that I am very excited about.  I will eventually pass-on my role of “Local Outreach Team Leader” to a volunteer, and begin to take on more with discipleship, where I find my gifts more lining up.

Speaking of local outreach, however, I’m SUPER excited about our 5K run/walk we are doing this September at RCC.  I have been working on this for most of the year with an AWESOME team of individuals!  The date is September 19, 2009.  If you are a runner, walker, or just enjoy hanging out with other people, this event is for YOU.  Seriously, though, we’ve designed it to be like our annual Easter egg hunt, where we are creating an environment where Christians can rub shoulders with non-Christians and just share life and 2 things they have in common: running and families.  There will be prizes, food, live music, and lots of fun!  Be sure to check it out, and register online by clicking here.  You can even follow the event on Twitter at @salemfest5k.

Expect more updates this fall, because things will soon become very exciting around here!
