IMG_0830 UPDATE: I ended up finding a PS3 on Craigslist and purchased it. Unfortunately, it came with a smaller hard drive than the guy said it had, but it is working great.

So, as you probably know, I only own Nintendo game consoles. It’s not because I have some tie to the company, and it’s not because I swore an oath. The truth of the matter is that I only have so much money that I think I should spend on video games…and Nintendo captured my gaming heart back on the NES. And I’ve been attached ever since. I even blog for a Nintendo fan-site.

This does not mean that I do not play other consoles. It just means that I don’t go out and buy a brand new console from another company, because I don’t have that kind of cash. So, I choose to stick with one console per generation. However, every once in a while, I will venture out into the 2nd-hand market or get interested in the 3rd version of some 4-year old console. That’s exactly how I got my Sega Dreamcast. Technically, I also own a PS1 and PS2, but my parents and sister have them right now, since they are “shared” within the family.

All this brings me to my question at hand. Recently, I have been longing for an HD console. Not only do I want to play a few games in HD, but I also want to experience things like Netflix in HD. I have this nice HD TV, and I hardly get to use it to its full “potential.” So, I’ve been looking around on eBay and Craigslist for PS3’s and 360’s. Naturally, because it also includes a BluRay player, I prefer a PS3. However, they are more expensive, usually, than a 360. Also, I am not sure about what size hard drive to get. Will I actually use it? I don’t really have wisdom from experience like some do. I’ve got a 4GB card in my Wii that’s not even half-full. Same with my DSi and 3DS. I could care less about exclusive games, really. Most games that I would like to play on these consoles are on both.

So, for those out there who own either (or even better, BOTH), please share your thoughts, experiences, and opinions. I’m not sure I will definitely go out and buy anything. I might just remain patient until next year when the Wii U comes out (yes, that’s a definite buy for me). But I thought I would weigh my options and ask around.

Another option is just to get a descent BluRay player and wait on the Wii U for games. It’s not like I have a TON of time for home console games right now anyhow.
